Turin in a weekend: a walking itinerary from the centre
Two days are enough to fall for Turin, and almost everything is on foot. This itinerary starts from Portico Garibaldi, in the Quadrilatero Romano: no car and no ZTL.
Saturday: markets, the Egyptian Museum and aperitivo
- A historic breakfast: a bicerin at Caffè Al Bicerin, in piazza della Consolata, opposite the Sanctuary.
- Porta Palazzo and the Balon: the city's big open-air market and, on Saturdays, the Balon flea market in the nearby streets.
- Lunch in a piola: traditional Piedmontese taverns, with agnolotti, vitello tonnato and a glass of house wine.
- Afternoon at the Egyptian Museum: about 8 minutes on foot. Book your ticket online, especially at weekends.
- Evening in the Quadrilatero: aperitivo in the streets around piazza Solferino and via Garibaldi, then a Piedmontese dinner; book the most popular restaurants ahead.
Sunday: Royal Museums, the Mole and the Po
- Morning in Piazza Castello: about 5 minutes on foot. The Royal Museums (Royal Palace, Armoury, Galleria Sabauda and Chapel of the Shroud) and Palazzo Madama: allow at least half a day for the Royal Museums.
- Coffee under the arcades: Baratti & Milano or Mulassano in Piazza Castello, or piazza San Carlo, Turin's "drawing room".
- Mole Antonelliana and National Cinema Museum: the panoramic lift goes up to the terrace, with views over the city.
- Sunset on the Po: from piazza Vittorio Veneto walk down to the river and along to the Valentino park.
Opening hours and closing days of museums and restaurants change: always check the official websites. More tips in our Turin guide.
